our founder

mission & vision

With the collection and distribution of new blankets we can help homeless children and their families with hope. . . and knowing that we care!

Ian Rich is a young man who possesses a heart characterized by a prophetic spirit. He has sought to embody the compelling ethos contained in the words “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

A part of the Jr. Leadership program where Ian trained young martial artists were required to learn new words.  Operation Blanket was created through a discussion of the word 'Compassion.'  He wanted to know how children and their families kept warm at night if they didn't have homes.

Compassion is one of his greatest attributes; although, he does not recognize it.  Without money, investors, or any financial backing Ian believed that he could make a difference in the lives of others.

Ian has always had a servant’s heart, but it is through his training and the leadership program that introduced him to working, in a teaching capacity, with young children and to develop his understanding of various vocabulary words that challenged him to be more aware of the needs of others.

His leadership is contagious and infectious.  Those who have made Operation Blanket a success just needed someone to say “yes we can make a difference”, and Ian’s selfless desire ignited the smoldering flames in their hearts. He is God’s light in a time of great need.

In addition to his Martial Arts training, Ian swims competively and is also home-schooled where he is currently in the 7th grade.  Ian is the youngest of six children; he has 5 older sisters. Since he was very young, he has always been around children; he became an uncle at age 4.

As Founder of Operation Blanket, Ian brings his understanding of the word ‘Compassion’ to hold blanket drives providing warmth to homeless children and their families.  With the help and support of his family, Operation Blanket partnered with a local non-profit to create this outreach program of collecting new blankets and is devoted to passionately providing new blankets for homeless children and their families in Sonoma County, CA.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys road trips, camping, drawing, playing with his friends, and collaborating with his mom on a new costume. Ian lives with his parents, one of his sisters, and a bearded dragon, named ‘Buddy’, in Santa Rosa, California.
